K3N packed the house at Bourbon Street, 500 Army Post Road, on May 12th. The event was extra special in that there was a celebration for an anonymous guitarist (named Ted)'s 29th anniversary of his 21st birthday. Fifty, huh? 350 in dog years! Ted and JiMi are also going on 30 years of playing together. To celebrate, they played a bunch of 1970s punk such as Blitzkreig Bop and God Save the Queen all back-to-back right in the middle of the evening. Attendee Clark Johnson reported "there is no other bar band in Des Moines half this good!" Smokin'!
We have had some great gigs out in Pleasant Hill lately. Legends American Grill can be found in a busy strip mall at 1280 Copper Creek Drive, just off University Avenue east of the Des Moines city limits. The staff are helpful and personable. The crowd is enthusiastic and ready to party. It is almost too much fun to be getting paid for! They like to do live music on Fridays and Karaoke on Saturday nights. A splendid time is guaranteed for all.
