Borg received vocal training at the Sibelius Academy as well as in Vienna, Rome and New York. He is also a qualified engineer. His professional concert début came in 1947 and he built his career in opera houses in Helsinki, Copenhagen, Hamburg and Stockholm, and has appeared all over Europe and America. He has played the roles of Boris Godunov, Mephistopheles, Scarpia, Don Giovanni and many others. Borg possesses a full bass-baritone voice and is a skilled linguist.
