Listen and singer/songwriter, Kym Campbell, will draw you into her world with music most often described as acoustic surf-rock. The twenty six year old evokes an innocent, yet sophisticated and upbeat sound, sharing with us all her experiences of life as a girl, a woman, a lover, a joker, and most of all – that little surfie chick from next door. As an acoustic artist, her unique vocal style (with a little harmonica in between), lyrics, and catchy guitar riffs are constantly evolving her song writing to new levels, recently making the top 50 and top 100 for both her songs "So Alive" and "Moments" in the Oz Music awards, acoustic category. Kym has been influenced by a kaleidoscope of genres from reggae to folk, roots flowing to easy surf-rock, with even a hint of hip hop. And out of this combination, she has crafted her own distinct style, while still managing to include just enough radio friendly pop to keep that tune popping up in your head all day. Names like Ben Harper, Tristan Prettyman, the Waifs, Bob Marley, Jack Johnson, The Beautiful Girls and Sublime, are a few she draws any particular special inspiration from. Kym started playing guitar, singing and song-writing during her first travels to Australia in 2003. Since then she has supported many acoustic rock bands in the United States at venues in both, Santa Cruz and the general Bay Area, California. Now back in Australia again you can find Kym playing as a solo artist or with her band at a number of niche local venues around the Gold Coast and northern New South Whales.
