La Diferenzia

The San Antonio, Texas-based Tejano group La Diferenzia comprised vocalist Ricardo Castillon, accordionist Simon Arausa, guitarist Adam Vargas, keyboardists Arnold Cardenas and Ross Villapando, bassist Mike Macias, and drummer Jose Luis Benavides. Formed during the mid-1980s by Castillon and his brother Ramiro, the group disbanded following the latter's tragic auto death, but after teaming with songwriter Miguel Spindola, the surviving Castillon opted to reunite the unit. La Diferenzia debuted in 1994 with a self-titled effort issued on the Arista Latin label; the singles "Si Lo Quieres" and "Linda Chaparrita" both topped the Latin charts, and the LP ultimately achieved platinum status. "Tu No Tienes Corazon," from 1996's Fue Mucho Mas Que Amor, also hit the top spot, and in 1997 La Diferenzia returned with Canta Conmigo. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide
