Laced Confection
Band Objective: To do justice to rock music and deliver a fresh unique sound, in both live and recorded situations, while staying true to ourselves as musicians and fans ourselves of real rock music...ROCKSTEADY... LACED CONFECTION is comprised of four young, like-minded musicians who will thump the music world...with cutting-edge, progressive, alternative rock. Powerful, head-slammin’ guitar riffs backed by punchy, chest-pounding bass lines, and “phat,” technical drum beats; all garnished by soulful lyrics that both rock your socks off and serenade you to serenity. You have to see them live to capture their permeating energy. Rob and Phil attended La Salle High School together and started a group, soon teaming up with a musician Rob met at a local music store. They were called Nikolae. Rob had been playing guitar since the age of ten, and Phil had been drumming about as long after putting the sax down. Phil didn’t have drums of his own and was only able to play drums in the school band. Phil was told by his teachers that he was never going to be a drummer – boy, were they wrong. He soon got some drums from his parents for Christmas. So the three-piece, Nikolae played for three years in Hollywood at the Whisky and the Key Club, and other shows around the San Gabriel Valley. Eventually they parted ways with their front-man for a plethra of reasons. For almost a year, Phil and Rob continued to practice, until one day working at the Macaroni Grill, Rob met Ali who, from Chicago, apparently sang well and liked funky rock. Ali had been singing for a long time and had been in previous bands in Illinois. Finally, they found their front-man!! Through practicing, hanging out, and cooking fine cuisines (due to Ali’s extraordinary culinary skills), the LACED CONFECTION sound was born. They didn’t play too many shows at all, just practice and writing songs here and there. One day in Ali’s kitchen while hanging out with best friend, Greg, they decided that Greg should just get some equipment and be in the band. Greg had been playing bass since his freshman year in High School, jamming with the friends. Greg attended Arroyo Pacific Academy (High School) with Phil and Rob, so they knew him for a while. He moved everywhere, from Pasadena to Puerto Rico to Corona. He still commutes from Corona, but it is worth it. After that, the circuit was fused, and LACED CONFECTION has since been playing anywhere they can. From dive bars and parties to the House of Blues… They are climbing the mountain and no one can stop them. With every footing, getting Better Than Stronger... So if you are planning on attending a LACED CONFECTION show, bring some extra underwear. If you don’t crap yourself, maybe they will, and you may be drenched in sweat from rocking out hard as you experience first hand how difficult it is not to move to the beat of a refreshing untainted sound.
