silverline3's Album Review for Sacrament

Sacrament was voted the best metal record of 2006, which in my opinion is an understatement. The record has pushed the limits of modern day metal and has transformed millions who originally wouldn hav apprectiated lamb of god. Read on to see wat this reco
Lamb of God began in 1994 as Burn the Priest. Before Sacrament they had released 1 record as Burn the Priest and 3 records as Lamb of God including New American Gospel, As the Palaces Burn and Ashes of the Wake. Sacrament debuted at #8 on the billboards and definitely lived up to that name. Sacrament contains 46 mins of mind-numbing, hard-hitting, compelling and in your face music packed into 11 tight songs. On most metal records these days there is always either a few bad songs or just a few good songs but on Sacrament every song is worth listening to a thousand times. Now to begin, the guys had several months to write this record and in dat time they came up wif either 14 or 15 songs, and the best 11 were taken and recorded. The first track Walk With Me In Hell contains some of the most difficult pedal rhythms that the drum magician Chris Adler has ever come up with. This self-taught genius has done it again on dis album wif every song contain mind-boggling drum patterns which only the best can possibly think about playin! The first track is a real dark song which sets the scene for the album perfectly. With an unusually long (0:54s) intro for a LOG song it develops into a brutal hard-hitting song with a brilliant breakdown accompanied with Randy Blythe's baritone singing/screaming which add dat little extra twist which hasn been seen on previous LOG records. Getting onto the guitar work on this album, the songs are reasonably evenly distributed throughout the album with Walk With me in Hell, Redneck, Pathetic, Descending being mostly Mark Morton's, whilst Foot to the Throat, Forgotten (Lost Angels), More Time to Kill and Beating on Death's Door mostly Willies. Whilst the others, Again We Rise, Blacken the Cursed Sun, Requiem being a combination of both players. These two have done it again on this album like Ashes of the Wake but at a new level. They've adapted their playin and these songs are harder to play and more layered. The hardest 1s on the album in a guitarists point of view are foot to the throat, forgotten (lost angels) and Beating on Death's Door. The two singles that have been taken from the album were at first Redneck and also Walk With Me In Hell which was labelled a single just before the much anticipated dvd, walk with me in hell came out and both music videos can be found on youtube. Altogether this record has defined the future of metal and the direction this band is taking. It also has demonstrated that this band is here to stay and will continue to grow over the years. The album has done so much for the band and has transformed it up the ranks from being the main opening act on arena tours to being the main act on their own arena tours! the band has been touring for almost 2 years non-stop and now has returned to the studio to write and record their 5th studio album as LOG which is due to be released in early 2009, so keep a look out and buy that album because these guys deserve it!
