L'Experience 9

In the kind of thing bound to confuse catalogers for eternity, L'Experience 9 were the same as les Maledictus Sound, a large instrumental ensemble from Montreal, Canada, that put out one album in the late '60s. The album credited to L'Experience 9 called Freak Out Total is identical to the somewhat more widely known one by les Maledictus Sound that bears a different title (Attention) and cover art. However it was packaged, the record was an odd melange of psychedelic rock, easy listening pop, orchestral arrangements, and some sound effects, dabbling in spots of classical, jazz, and whatnot. More of a novelty than inspired post-modernism, it was reissued on CD (credited to les Maledictus Sound) about 30 years later. ~ Richie Unterberger, All Music Guide
