The London Trumpet Sound is an ensemble assembled by conductor Geoffrey Simon and arranger Paul Sarcich -- with 23 of the top trumpet players plus four bass trumpets (comprising 27 of the top musicians in England), and a 12-person rhythm section of basses and percussion. They're equally comfortable transposing pop, jazz, and classical repertory into a uniquely brassy mode. The group has recorded extensively for Cala Records in the first half of the 21st century, roaring out of the box on their first record with "Sing Sing Sing," and romping their way through Mozart, Rossini, and Rodrigo, and the Beatles' "Penny Lane." ~ Bruce Eder, All Music Guide
