Malkuth

Judging by their corpse-white face-paint, leather bondage gear, and generally demonic demeanor, one would naturally assume black metal merchants Malkuth to live in Scandinavia; but in fact, the band hails from the Northern Brazilian state of Pernambuco -- not exactly a known haven for heavy metal. Formed in 1993 by the colorfully named Lord Nightfall (vocals), Priest Vampyr Ashtaroth (guitar/keyboards), Azazel (guitar), Kleudde (bass), and Invoker Diabolic Flame (drums), the group recorded a series of demos (1994's "Orgies in the Temple of Christ (Bastard Son)," 1995's "Glory and Victory") before signing with local Demise Records and releasing the Under Delight of the Black Candle EP in 1997. A debut long-player, The Dance of the Satan's Bitch followed the very next year, but constant personnel swaps would throw Malkuth into a prolonged state of unrest in the years to come. Their second album, Extreme Bizarre Seduction, was eventually patched together in mid-2000, but only found its way into record stores a year later, soon to be followed by album number three, Destroying the Symbols of Lies -- at which time Malkuth featured original members Ashtaroth and Lord Nightfall, who were joined by bassist Flammelian Azoth, and keyboard player Cyber Necro Daemon. ~ Ed Rivadavia, All Music Guide
