Marian Bradfield

Marian Bradfield has quickly become one of Ireland's most successful vocalists. Since making her debut on the Gaelic-language arts program, "Cursai", on Irish National Television in March 1993, Bradfield has been hailed by music critics as "the golden girl of Irish music". According to Irish music magazine, "Hot Press", "(Bradfield) pours out her heart and a rich palette of emotions". In a poll of the magazine's readers, Bradfield was voted "Ireland's top female artist", while critics named her "best solo performer of 1993". Bradfield's crystal-clear vocals and ironic songwriting are irresistible. Three weeks after her appearance on "Cursai", she was signed to a record contract by Irish record label, Tandem. Her debut album, "Marian", released in 1993, was followed by "Tonight Is Just For Us", two years later. Bradfield's third album, "The Emperor's Field", released in 1998, was produced by Pat Donne, whose lengthy list of credentials include overseeing albums by Ronnie Wood, The Wilde Oscars, Sonic Youth and House Of Pain. Bradfield was also featured on three compilation albums-"Folksong", "Celtic Woman" and "Countryfolk"-released in 1995 and 1996. ~ Craig Harris, All Music Guide
