HunkyMandrake's Artist Review for Matchbook Romance
""
An absolute classic from a band criminally unnoticed in Britain
Matchbook Romance are a band who are practically unheard of in the UK, and I hadn't even heard of them until I saw them support The All-American Rejects live. It's a shame because they are the brains and power behing "Monsters", a stomping stormer of a song. As the chilling melody of keys meets and clashes with a massed clap, you are aware that this song isn't going to be any old song - this is going to be a song that stays with you for a while.
As for lyrics, "we are the monsters hiding under your bed" may not sound like the most innovative and most meaningful lyrics you've ever heard, but they are fantastically written enough. A fantastic guitar solo creates an aurora of paradise for serial headbangers everywhere.
It's a shame that not many people will hear this song, because it's a song which deserves nothing more than to be appreciated.
