Pianist/keyboardist/composer Mathias Claus hails from Germany, where he began his musical career by playing rock-jazz on national festival, TV, and radio events, before beginning work on several studio projects. Having studied music with the best at both the Musikhochschule in Hamburg and Berklee College of Music in Boston, a few of Claus' musical projects include a power jazz outfit with bassist Woody Lingle and drummer Chad Hunley, another with bassist Bill Lawrence and French trumpeter Nicolas Genest, and a third which sees Claus joining up with U.S. guitarist Edmund J. Wood and Swiss vocalist Kira Whitewood. In addition, Claus has developed his own computer-based online studio, having appeared on recordings by other artists and issuing a lone solo album thus far, Collections. ~ Greg Prato, All Music Guide
