Matt & Kim are worth their sweat. When this Brooklyn-based duo formed in 2004, they quickly decided they should learn how to play instruments. A few years later it resulted in a feverish, fast-paced cocktail of kick and snare mixed with anthemic synth-driven choruses. With Matt & Kim seeing is truly believing. Their elated live show is known for its intensity. After releasing their self-titled debut album Matt & Kim hit the road and haven’t looked back. In fact, they haven’t had time. After touring extensively and winning the hearts of fans as well as critics, Matt & Kim returned to Matt’s childhood bedroom in Vermont to record their follow-up. Where they’ve been is nothing compared to where they are going. Fun Facts: -Matt & Kim have been a band since spring 2004 -The first thing they ever recorded was an self released ep called to/from in 2005 -The second thing they recorded was “Matt and Kim” which came out in 2006 on iheartcomix Records -Matt & Kim are a two piece – keys and drums -Matt & Kim live in Brooklyn, NY -Kim doesn’t like spicy food -Matt grew up in Vermont and went to a public high school with 17 people in his graduating class. He spent kindergarten through 12th grade in one building -Kim grew up in Rhode Island and is very proud of it. She has the Rhode Island flag tattooed on her wrist and is trying to collect every single R.I. quarter. She has over 600 now -Matt loves Mexican food -Matt use to be really good at snow boarding -Kim ran track in high school. She then when to Penn State on a track scholarship and realized that she didn’t want to run anymore. (her life plan was training for the Olympics which was then squashed!) -Matt & Kim have been dating since fall 2002 -Matt & Kim both believe that they will be successful when they have health insurance…. they haven’t made it there yet -Matt & Kim both went to Pratt Institute in Brooklyn NY. This is where they met -Matt & Kim didn’t know how to play their instruments before starting the band -Kim makes art… or use to make art before they started touring all the time -Kim has always wanted to be a vigilante -Matt’s big toe is almost twice the size of his other toes -Matt wishes he could sleep over 12 hours a day. he feels like if he did this he would live forever -Matt is a bad driver… says Kim! -Kim is the middle child -Matt has one brother who lives with them in Brooklyn. his name is Fletcher -Matt and Kim’s apartment is 8 feet wide. -Kim does not like her belly button to be touched -Matt can’t handle hard alcohol -Matt & Kim love dogs
