Formed in February of 2000 by Russ Crossman (guitar), Ryan Hall (guitar), and Tony Cosgrove (drums), Detroit, Michigan's Mutilated was originally known as "Decapitator" and performs hyper-technical grindcore with disgusting lyrics á la Cannibal Corpse. After a vocal-free first demo, the group recruited vocalist Justin Emery in time for their first shows in 2001, supporting the similarly extreme Mortician and Exhumed. Bassist Adam Meindel was brought on board prior to their 2003 debut album, Devirginated Genital Pulp, which was released by Forever Underground Records. ~ Ed Rivadavia, All Music Guide
