Raised in Rochester, NY, Tim Prezzano (aka Nev) listened to classical music as a child, oblivious to the dance genre in which he would later work. He studied photography at the Rochester Institute of Technology and minored in Philosophy and American Study Art at NYU, but returned to Rochester and met Mark Gage of Vapourspace. In 1992, Prezzano released "Deep Beep" on his own label; two years later, the British label GPR released two EPs, Indexa Philosopher and My Plasma Block.
