Oystar
Oystar are Dan, Kev, Ben and James from the UK. We write cheeky, topical tunes inspired by current affairs - whether it's bank charges ('I fought the Lloyds'), kids these days ('Babies in bikinis'), or Multi-culturalism ('We are the British'). We like writing songs that spark debate and bring important social issues to life. We're a new breed of musical journalist following in the footsteps of the gleemen and minstrels of old. Our first single 'I fought the Lloyds' charted at number 25 in the UK as the 2nd highest entry in the week of 14 January '08. It has been played on Radio 1, Radio 2, talksport and loads of national and local stations throughout the country. The music video we made ourselves was also featured on Channel five news and was used to play out Newsnight by Mr Paxman himself. We supported Chas & Dave at the Amersham Arms at the beginning of the year and are going to be playing all the festivals this summer - Glastonbury, Shambala and the Secret Garden. We appear regularly at Synergy Tuesdays in Camberwell, (Farmer's Road, near Camberwell New Road) where we also rehearse and record.
