Philip Chaffin

Singer/actor Philip Chaffin was born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA. Moving to Los Angeles after graduating from college, he was cast in a production of Strike Up the Band, soon after landing a berth as the singer with Ray Conniff and His Orchestra, a job he held for three years, during which he toured the world. In 1997, he moved to New York, where he began to work in musical theater, making his Broadway debut in December of that year as a member of the ensemble in the staged concert version of Alan Menken and Tim Rice's King David. In addition to numerous appearances in regional productions of vintage musicals (On the Town, Damn Yankees, Oklahoma!, etc.), he appeared on studio cast recordings (Pardon My English, Through the Years, Tell Me More) and, in November 2000, released his first solo album, Where Do I Go from You? The album marked the beginning of PS Classics, a label Chaffin formed with producer Tommy Krasker that soon began recording Broadway cast albums and recordings by other show music performers; Chaffin became its A&R director. In 2005, PS Classics released his second solo album, Warm Spring Night. ~ William Ruhlmann , All Music Guide
