Pointless Orchestra
Formed in Kent, OH, in 1994 with fellow Kent State University students Mike Hovancsek, Mike Foster, and Dave Badagnani, Pointless Orchestra has emerged as a unique ensemble even among its peers. Initially adopting a working-class "go-to-hell"-type attitude incorporating samplers and electronics, Pointless Orchestra has melded into an acoustic avant-garde chamber group utilizing ancient instruments from all over the world. Now led by Hovancsek, the group has explored numerous genres from spoken word and performance to East Asian and Arabic traditional forms. They have worked with a wide array of avant-garde music luminaries, including Jin Hi Kim, Amy Denio, Joseph Celli, Illusion of Safety, and Halim El-Dabh. ~ Mark Allender, All Music Guide
