Refreshments

A forgotten '90s rock band from Tempe, AZ, the Refreshments originally formed in early 1994 and were comprised of members Roger Meade Clyne (vocals, guitar), Brian David Blush (lead guitar), P.H. Naffah (drums), and a chap who simply went by the singular name of Buddy (on bass) but whose real name was Arthur Edwards. Early on, their shows proved to be unpredictable affairs, including such wacky bits as its members hitting the stage wearing shower caps and giving milk and cookies out to audience members. The same year as their formation, the quartet issued a self-released full-length debut, Wheelie, and followed it up shortly thereafter with an EP titled Lo, Our Much Praised yet Not Altogether Satisfactory Lady. Both releases proved to be incredibly popular locally (the original 2,000 pressings of Wheelie sold out quickly), which led to a recording contract with the Polygram label. But after a pair of releases came and went without much chart action, 1996's Fizzy Fuzzy Big & Buzzy and 1997's The Bottle & Fresh Horses, the quartet decided to call it a day. ~ Greg Prato, All Music Guide
