Richard O Roberts
Guitarist/Composer Richard Roberts, born near Manchester, England, 1973 but currently based in Warsaw, Poland. Richard started playing guitar at the age of 9 and quickly moved onto Classical Guitar, passing grade 8 with distinction at the age of 16. Whilst always keeping up Rock, Blues and Jazz styles, Richard began studying at Birmingham Conservatoire in 1992 and devoted himself to Classical playing and Composition. It was during this time that he encountered Indian Classical Music and began playing with second generation British-Indian musicians at local gigs and events. This was a key musical moment, opening up a whole new sound world. After graduating, Richard headed straight to India for the best part of a year to 'experience first hand' the sights and sounds of a country that still continues to play a big part in both his music and thinking. In addition to giving numerous Classical Guitar recitals, to name but a few, Richard has performed as soloist at the Premier of 'Concerto for Electric Guitar and Brass Band' (Neil Cannon) and appeared as guitairst in the Premier of the musical 'Berlin' (Tim Spencer), both at the Adrian Bolt Hall, Birmingham. He has performed throughout the Midlands and Oxford area (UK) with Indo-Western Fusion group Hot-Todi, performed as one half of the Flute and Guitar duo Entract around Birmingham, performed as one half of the Voice and Guitar duo Peach in Tokyo, recorded with Grunge-Rock band Fuzzy-Ga-Ga in Kuala Lumpur and gave roof-top performances in Casablanca. He doens't want to mention the gigs in Tokyo as a John Lennon impersonator! He currently performs solo and with other local musicans in Warsaw, Poland. The album 'Away' is out soon.

Sounds like the kind of music that shouldn't work but then does so well!
