Rootman Sphinx
This project is about freedom; freeing your body with riddims to make you move; freeing your mind by letting you laugh at our ridiculous authorities; and freeing our society by destroying the credibility of fossilized power. While it strikes newcomers as a fresh synthesis of forms and ideas, in reality, music has done these things for centuries, especially Carribean calypso carnival music; and this project keeps the tradition alive. The lyrics are in English. The music is from veteran musicians who have been playing a long time, and the arrangements range from subtle to risky. You'll hear drum kit, hand drums and percussion, multiple electric guitars, bass, and vocals in a Dancehall, Soca style.

This song is a little unusual. It has a loose feel to it, and a message that doesn't fit the tone of the music. But I like the interplay among the instruments and the breakdown in the middle of the tune is sick.
