semi-normal
Australian indie/brit rock outfit Semi-Normal deliver their debut full-length album titled, Half Open Minds, on Indie-a-GoGo Records. This independent release marks a milestone for the band who formed in late 2002 when long time friends Ben Downing (guitar/vocals), Dave Madison (drums), Chris Johnson (guitar) began jamming together entirely for fun. They were later joined by Amanda Johnson (bass/vocals) who completed their quartet. Their collective enthusiasm for moody, melodic, guitar-driven rock, encouraged them to continue crafting their musical talents in semi-isolation until 2005, when the band finally broke out of the confines of their private jam sessions to start performing live in some of Adelaide's more well-known live venues. In 2006, the band released their self titled demo, which clocked up some worthy achievements including success in 3D Radio's Local Live Charts and also making way for the band to tour eastern South Australia with interstate acts. Looking beyond this, the band decided to set their sights higher and return to the studio in 2007 to record their first full length album. Upon the successful completion of this, the band then returned to the live music scene, in preparation for the release of the debut album. 2007 marked maturation for Semi-Normal as a collective, as well as individually. In addition to arranging and performing live gigs, their sound featured swirling crunchy indie guitars while Downing's lyrical content experienced a more introspective, grittier shift. Early 2008 saw the departure of guitarist Chris Johnson. The band are now operating as a trio, and are more focused than ever, continuing to create new material and craft their sound in the pursuit of perfection.

The melody of "shadow of me" is very enigmatic and mysterious. Just listing to the track and the strong vocals of the artist lets you know that they actual live, breath, and eat music.
