SirKriS_360's Album Review for Based on a True Story
""
Not a Shock
After three years of straightening out the overdue release of his fifth album, Based on a True Story, aggressive New Orleans rhymer Silkk the Shocker makes little effort to find a sound that will prolong any attention from the mainstream, although it will surely do well with mob-style music fans and No Limit followers. At 24 years young, there's plenty of time for a possible change in Silkk's attitude, and it begins to seep through on "Be There," which uses none other than Spandau Ballet's sappy '80s hit "True" to shed seriousness. Elsewhere, The New No Limit Records' go-to rapper incorporates a little G-funk flavor on "Get That"--potentially his next hit--alongside current club favorite "We Like Them Girls." True Story is as dirty as N'awlins rap can get.
