Slippery Nipple. When these words are uttered only the mild fascination of a dirty porn film comes to those with an also dirty mind. Be warned though, because lurking behind the words of filth lies a band of five members, which spawned lovingly from a vibrant Lichfield Music Scene in the late months of 2005 and are already being heralded by some as Lichfields First Super Group. Fronted on guitar by Jonathan Taylor, who also plays bass for the extremely talented Maritza, and singer George GEM Mainwaring on lead vocals, the two together, using Jons musical genius and GEMs ambiguous lyrics (inspired heavily by David Bowie), have achieved a blend only achievable with the help and also brilliance of the improving and excellent musicians of James Miller (Guitar) Sammy Barker (Bass) and Jamie Robertson (Drums). Slippery Nipple are now, and currently, ready to make a name for themselves and bring back to the public what music is all about. The band began in the gloomy autumn of 2005, when Jamie (then never having touched a drum kit in his life; let alone two thin pieces of wood) jokingly came up with the idea in front of a group of six formers after reading the name off a cocktail and shots menu list in the local bar called Paradise. Quickly, Miller, then joined by original singer James Conolly, established the band and set off on becoming the biggest thing to hit NetherStowe High School since the school had been plunged into special measures and Barry I.E. Cooper was appointed as headmaster. The band played a series of guerilla gigs in classrooms and a particularly memorable one in their music teachers office, finally culminating in a first gig at an awards evening; much to Mr. Coopers approval but the band knew they could do better. So, eventually the band became the talk of the town after a triumphant performance in early January when they performed two of their songs in front of an approving audience. Soon though it was evident it was time for a change and James Conolly was replaced on vocals by George Mainwaring. Since then Slippery Nipple have improved and gained even more support than imagined and are already becoming what they wish to become. The band are soon to get down to some serious writing and recording for a debut CD which can be expected some time later in 2007. So led by the guy who aint no square with his corkscrew hair, the genius, the JD addict, the Myspace legend and the drummer who wishes to advertise vests to all, the band are ready and here to keep your Nipples Slippery because simply, "We are Slippery Nipple and this is what we do!"
