Squeeze - Power Pop with Bite

The songwrting duo behind Squeeze - Chris Difford & Glenn Tilbrook are amongst the most underrated song-smiths the UK has ever produced. Difford is one of Britain's greatest lyricists and Tilbrook a master of melody and possesed of a wonderful voice. They 'do' pastiche with style - Tempted (white soul), Labelled with Love (country), Black Coffee in Bed (AOR)and mainstream power pop - everything else. Eastside Story was one of the great albums of the early 80's and Some Fantastic Place an early 90's gem. The success of the recently released Essential Squeeze compilation also proved that there is still a market for the bands smart, melodic and expertly crafted pop.
