Stanislav Biniki
Biniîki studied at Belgrade and also worked with Rheinberger on composition in Munich. He co-founded the Serbian School of Music and, conducting The Belgrade Military Orchestra and The Stankovic Choir, he introduced Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and Haydn's Creation to Belgrade. The majority of his compositions are theatrical, including many incidental pieces and an opera. The opera, Dawn (1903), is the first Serbian national opera and has as its subject matter the Serbian conflict with the Turks and contains Serbian folk music, oriental melismas and augmented-interval scales. ~ Lynn Vought, All Music Guide
