Blistering blues on Rock Love

Sure, the studio tracks on this album are amongst Steve's mediocre output. Then again, his best selling albums and hit songs are at the mediocre end of his output.
Steve is at his best when he either has a message in his songs, or when he plays that guitar like there is no tomorrow.
On Rock Love there are two standout live tracks, The Gangster is Back, and Blues Without Blame. The guitar playing is blistering, his vocals have never been better on record, with subtle nuances that totally integrate with the song, the guitar work, and the band, and he was totally switched on when performing, unlike the live tracks he did later when he was just another pop star. Too bad ithas never been released on CD!
