kevin_lock's Album Review for In the Wake of Determination
""
Another one for the trash compactor.
This is the newest release from 'Story of the Year', first thing's first, music is supposed to evolve, expand, grow, or all of the above if possible. This CD is predictable, boring, and a downright disappointment.
Screamo/Post-Hardcore/Alternative---whatever you like to call it---has taken a steady decline since late 2003/2004 when bands like Underoath, Thrice, My Chemical Romance, A Static Lullaby reigned supreme because they all released fantastic albums. It seems as if the bands that are releasing CDs this year feel rushed and need something catchy to cling to. Only a handful of bands have made my prestigeous "cut" this year. Thrice have definitly evolved, A Static Lullaby failed. I'm still waiting on My Chemical Romance and Underoath's new albums. It's tragic that this once very popular mix-genre of music is starting to get even more popular, but the cost of more popularity leads bands that were once gods amongst this "scene" are starting to slip into rock and roll and catchy tunes of great ones.
(I went off on a tangent there and I apologize)
As i mentioned before--- 'In The Wake of Determination' is not a good album. Sure, you can sing along to it, sure the songs are cathy. But the songs aren't timeless. I had two attempts at listening to this CD, because I felt halfway through that I was becoming increasingly bored and wanted to do other things. That is NOT a good sign.
Don't buy it. That's it, that's all.

Album Review for Story of the Year - In the Wake of Determination
Firstly i would like to say that a previous review sated that it was boring and under-rated. They said that music should evolve, and that Soty were losing their place in their own style of music because other bands are more excitng. Well, thats actually w
