The Boyz from Brazil

The Boyz From Brazil formed in 1997, as a joint venture between French Philip Cohen Solal and Swiss Christoph H. Müller, two experienced musicians and producers determined to bring forth new exploration in the electronica style. Solal started out as a contributor and music-deliberating master for a number of European movie directors, eventually founding two major independent European dance labels, Ya Basta and Mineral. Müller, on the other hand, a renowned Swiss producer, also has credits for being one of the main techno-style architects in Europe. Their common passion for Latin, and especially Brazilian music soon proved to be the guiding element for the imagining and creation of the duo's eponymous debut album, The Boyz From Brazil, which hit the record stores still in 1997. The record exposed, for the first time, the team's venturous sounds, blending Latin music with electronic combinations; the two-man team ultimately forwarded a fresh vision for the electronica genre. Apart from the Boyz From Brazil project, Solal and Müller extended their cooperation for projects such as Stereo Action Unlimited or the Gotan Project during the following years. ~ Mario Mesquita Borges, All Music Guide
