Its not that bad
If crystal perfect production is your thing, then admittedly you may not appreciate this. If however you enjoy a raw and powerful experience check it out. They do have an unpolished sound, which suits me perfectly in a world where much music is rendered emotionless and uninspiring due to over production. (Hey, I like a bit of imperfection if it adds interest!)
The Breeders follow a pattern of song writing which focuses on emotion, kooky rhymes and admittedly frequent bizarreness! They are not however the first band to do this! Think of the Pixies (Uriah hit the Crapper!!!!) or the Cocteau Twins for example. Its not always necessary to understand every single lyric of a song in order to be able to get something from it.
I don't actually rate this as the Breeders best album (Pod in case you're wondering!!) but it does contain many elements which are unique to the Breeders and which are absolutely brilliant. They may not be to everyones taste, but they are worth a go.
