The Dent
Jeff Norberg, D. Rauh, and Mitchell Linker compose the power pop sound of Fairfield, CT's the Dent. The trio met while still in junior high in 1989 and the members found themselves writing their own songs as well. By the mid-'90s and at the height of grunge, the Dent were in college and playing in various band competitions. They were also gaining praise on college radio in and around their hometown; such hype led them to release a self-titled six-song EP in 1995. Within two years, the band was booking tours out East and prepping for a proper studio full-length. The independently released Beauty Cries (1998) was the fruit of those years and its infectious pop sound led the band a spot at North by Northwest in Toronto in 1999. Three years later, the Dent followed up with Neurotica. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide
