Burning up the Red Devil Lounge on Saturday, 8/4

Well, summer is half-way over... which means only one more month of cold and fog here in San Francisco. But fear not, all you heat meisers, step out of the cold and into the Red Devil Lounge for a veritable rock-n-roll inferno, hosted by your favorite toasty trio, The Downfalls.

We're headlining so come early and stay late. Also on the bill are A Lucky Day Later, The Quiet, and Levi Chen.

A look back and look a head....

Hello mp3.com friends,

So, we firmly seal the lid on the quagmire that was 2006. What a bizzarre year. While the world went crazy around us, (we) The Downfalls launched our first sonic assault on the unsuspecting masses (ok, not quite masses, more like "some people"). There were many highlights: Sweating it out in front of a packed house...er.....dive...in San Jose, CA during on the hottest day of the year (the club was over 100 degrees inside) the now infamous "stigmata show" at the Hotel Utah where Mark B. ripped his finger open on the opening power chord of the first song of the set (see picture section), winning the Live2night contest and co-headlining the famous "Bottom of the Hill" club in San Francisco.

Certainly one of the coolest things that has happened has been right here on this site. Our song, "The Ghost of Megan" is one of the most downloaded "free" songs on mp3.com and for that, WE THANK YOU. Clearly, we have to write more mellow songs (not going to happen).

Speaking of new songs..."so what have you done lately, you ask"? Well, mainly, we just drink a lot. Mark B. searched for inspiration in Morocco but mostly just got an upset stomach. But between the drinking, the travelling and "Sultans Revenge", we have been hard at work, banging out new material for our debut release. We will be in the recording studio (with real producer and everything) in the late spring and hope to release our first full length disk this summer. All indications are that it will RAWK with righteous indignation...and stuff....man. You will be pleased.

Until the next time we all fall down,
The Downfalls

Vote for ROCK! Bottom of the Hill on November 7

WOOT! We won the Battle of the Fans on Live2nite.com -- a big thank you
to Dave Bonillas, Ramona, and especially YOU, the Downfall Nation, for
voting for us to play this special showcase gig.

The BoTH is one
of SF's most premier rock clubs and we are stoked to put on an
especially great show. We're heading to the studio for the next few
months afterwards so this will probably be our last show until next
Spring. So don't miss out!

A big, bloody mess... heh.

Heya: well, The Downfalls have reached a new milestones in our careers -- we finally covered a stage with BLOOD (albeit a small corner of a small stage). Check out the pix in Flickr for all the gorey details...

Speaking of gorey details, we're stoked to rock out on All Hallow's Eve this year at 330 Ritch Street. Come in costume (or at least say you did) for a $1 off at the door. And mark your calendars -- Lance has got something really 'special' planned ... heh.

Hotel Utah on 10/4 (good buddy)

Please come out on Wednesday, "Roctober" 4th, to the Hotel Utah for a smorgasbord of tasty tunes. On the bill are our most excellent musical amigos, Cronkite and Blue Mire -- two great local bands serving up original, home-cooked music! The Downfalls will be serving the rock around 10:30 so come hungry, come thirsty... but just come!

Big news: we're especially pleased to announce the debut of our new drummer, Lance Mathyssen. Lance just returned from 10 years in Germany where he was hailed as the "David Hasselhoff of drums."
The Hotel Utah is at 500 4th Street (cross-street is Bryant) in San Francisco. See you there!
