The Dyna-Sores
Led by vocalist/guitarist Rene Hall, the Dyna-Sores were the third group to enjoy a hit with "Alley Oop", the Dallas Frazier-penned ode to the comic strip caveman. Although not as successful as Dante And The Evergreen, who reached the fifteenth chart position, and the Hollywood Argyles, whose version went to number one, the Dyna-Sores helped to turn Frazier's tune into one of the most commercially successful releases of 1960.
Released in April 1960, one week after the Hollywood Argyles, featuring Gary Paxton, and Dante And The Evergreens, featuring Bill Danty, reached the Billboard charts, the Dyna-Sores' recording of "Alley Oop" became the third version to break into the top forty. The Beach Boys later included the tune on their 1966 album, Party!.
While Hall went on to play with Sam Cooke and the Marketts, band members, including pianist Jack Eina, continued to play together as B. Bumble And The Stingers. ~ Craig Harris, All Music Guide
