The Hissyfits
Embracing the most intense notes of the pop/rock style, the Hissyfits also disclose their unconventional influences, set in between styles like punk-pop or alternative rock. Established in New York City in 1996, the Hissyfits first formed due to the initiative of vocalist and guitarist Princess. Following the additions of bassist Fon-Lin and drummer P-Girl, the trio started playing around the local underground scene, eventually receiving an enthusiastic response from their audiences. In 1999, the all-girl team delivered their first recording, the EP Wish You Were Here. Wish, a compilation disc gathering some of the group's foremost important themes, arrived in record stores during the following months. During the two subsequent years, the band managed to constantly play on nationwide tours before releasing their second full-length disc. Letters From Frank, the band's first album, arrived in 2001, months before the group's first lineup changes. Fon-Lin and P-Girl left the band temporarily to carry on with their college studies and were later substituted with bassist Hallie Bullet, drummer Sivan, and Karen K. (viola). ~ Mario Mesquita Borges, All Music Guide
