The Orchid Pool
Creating an incredibly intricate pop sound that draws on a huge array of traditional and obscure instruments, the Orchid Pool largely defy classification, though they incorporate elements of indie, twee, and chamber pop. Solely comprised of multi-instrumentalists/vocalists Tony and Kimberly Paglia, with percussionist Elisha Elliott filling out the lineup, the Orchid Pool have shared bills with members of Elephant 6 recordings while continuing to work out of their West-Central Pennsylvania headquarters. Their debut, Mayfly, an impressively varied set of friendly experimental pop, was released in 2000, with a holiday album, To Drive the Cold Winter Away, following in that same year. Chutes and Ladders was released in 2001. ~ Matt Fink, All Music Guide
