The Painted iD
The band known as the Painted iD formed in Santa Monica, CA in October of 1993. The foursome consists of vocalist Tori Robinson, bassist Ricardo "Rico" Belled, vocalist and percussionist Barry Schapira, and guitarist and vocalist Peter De Baets. Each of the members had served time in other bands before joining forces.
The Painted iD created a following by performing at places like coffeehouses and clubs, growing a fan base the hard way, one gig at a time. In 1995, the group released its debut album, Killing Birds with Stones. A sophomore offering didn't appear until 1999. The second album, self-titled, was recorded under the Fox Street Records label. "Revolving Walls," &Bittersweet Childhood," "Complicated Goddess," "No Reaching Me," "I'm Flying," "Days of Insincere Pleasantries," and "Passionless" are some of the acoustic pop/rock songs on the band's albums.
Before plans for a third full-length recording could be worked out, just when critics were marking the group down for high golds, the Painted iD band called it quits in January of 2000. ~ Charlotte Dillon, All Music Guide
