The Pop Shove-Its

This Ottawa-based trio performed in a variety of local bands in their high school years such as King Kung and the Waxies. But it wasn't until 1999 that the group came to fruition. Prior to that time, guitarist Rob Skitmore had traveled through Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia performing in various places and honing his talents. After returning to Ottawa, he re-teamed with his two friends to record a debut EP titled Off the Rails. The group, whose name is often associated with a difficult skateboarding trick, returned to the studio in 2001 to record and release their debut self-titled, full-length effort. The group has performed at various musical showcases, such as North by Northeast and Canadian Music Week. The group has also performed at the annual Ottawa Tulip Festival and has shared the stage with Scratching Post, Danko Jones, and Starling. ~ Jason MacNeil, All Music Guide
