The Story
The folk-pop duo the Story comprised singers/songwriters Jonatha Brooke and Jennifer Kimball, who first teamed in 1981 while freshmen at Amherst College. Originally appearing under the name Jonatha and Jennifer, they performed regularly throughout the Boston area until graduation, at which time Brooke joined a dance company and Kimball joined a publishing firm. The occasional gig followed, however; in 1989, the duo finally recorded a demo, dubbed Over Oceans, and were quickly signed by the Green Linnet label. Changing their name to the Story, their debut LP Grace in Gravity appeared in 1991; Elektra then snapped up the band, reissuing the album a year later. Angel in the House followed in 1993, but a year later the Story dissolved; both Brooke and Kimball continued on as solo performers. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide
