The9thCell

2003 David Pais (singer & composer) leaves his then metal band, along with the bass player - with whom, later that year, joins with to create Wishful Thinking - tired of squared-minds and musical limitations imposed by certain members's egos. Alone, he begins composing the first drafts of that which would turn into "Mig", his first serious solo-project. Although, his musical side has been growing from several years before the band's birth and death. He's been composing since 1998, where he began to exercise his creativity, mind and voice, using music as an escape from his own chaotic reality. 2004 Taken by an emotional twist which lead him into a clinical depression, and driven by his enourmous will of changing the life he was taking, David went out of his hometown, Ovar, going 220kms through Portugal, reaching Tomar. There, he knew the elements of his to-be future band, Ashes, who accepted him since their first rehearsal together. During that atribulated phase of his life, David began composing the begginings of songs like "Blind Acts", "Reasoning with You", and "Shattered Illusion Pt1 and Pt2". 2005 Back to his hometown, he continued composing the songs he started to develop in Tomar, and more songs followed. From April to June, he composed, recorded and performed his first oficial work from "Mig", counting with four special guests that gave their contribute to the album: Susana Andrez, who sings on "Walking Ghost" and "The Sorrow Within"; Eduardo Serraventoso, - one of Ashes's guitar players - who composed part of the introduction to "Bitter Pain" along with David; RM, who's his soundmate on their Wishful Thinking project, lended one of the songs they wrote together, called "Inthrough"; last, but not least, David invited Joel Pinho, one of the best guitar players he knows, with whom "Into Goodbye" was composed with. Searching for some publisher to publish this work, David registered all those songs on S.P.A. (Portuguese Authors Society), who gave him green light to begin his adventure. And so, he got in contact with CafePress, and "Lone-Lee" was released on 23rd, October. Much to his doom, only almost one month later, S.P.A. (Portuguese Author Society) sent him a letter indicating that his artistic name has already been taken, forcing David to take his album out of circulation on CafePress, including his site. The brainstorm began, searching for a new project name. Nothing seemed to make sence...he thought of several different names..."RazorBlade", "Reap", "Tw1sticide" or "Suff3r", untill he came up with "Cell9", leading to "The9thCell" - using his favourite number, 9, and his concept of this project ( the cell where he's kept insane, and also relieves his pain ). 2006 After registering his name as "The9thCell", David prepared to re-release "Lone-Lee" on 06-06-06. It wasn't for religious purposes, simply due to the rarity of this numeric configuration and its beauty - since it's 9 reversed. Not long from that point, and as he couldn't remain still, he began composing for "Lone-Lee" 's sucessor. So, during July and August, he composed, performed, recorded and produced "9 Points of Seizure", a work split in 2 CDs, that recieved excelent critics from all those who got the chance to hear it. It was released on the 9th of September, completely free and avaiable on his website for everyone to download. Following the same giving spirit and excelent feedback from those who got to know the Cell, David began to compose for yet another album - this time, his personnal take on Christmas and all it represents to him. Yet again, he invited some special guests to participate on this new endeavour: Susana Andrez is back on the guest-list, as special feature on "Santa's on Coke" and Nuno Mano, from Xtigma, who shares lines and vocalizations on "Hail Mon(k)ey!" with David. This "Lovely Xmas Lullabies" was released on 25th of December, and is a gift to everyone that breathes and thinks. Still this year, David involved The9thCell on a compilation from Corpos Editora, along with his band (Ashes), that will soon be avaiable on the market. 2007 Setting out the boundaries to the unexpected, David has new ideas for a new album. Having finished the production of Ashes's first EP with the current line-up, David's taking a small rest before hitting charge against the system on the new album...

Well produced and all sounds nice and brutal the vocals are at times unbearably cheesy (especially the more rap infuenced moments)
