Oblomov were founded in 1998 in Rome (Italy) by Enrico Le Pera (guitar/vocals), Maurizio Di Nofa (bass) and Francesco Petricca (drums/electronics). After countless auditions, the three decided that Flavia Bruni would be their definitive vocalist. In 2002 the band self produced and released its four tracks full lenght eponiymous cd. Critically acclaimed, the album remains a little under under ground milestone for the band. The music contained in this release is a mix of Pere Ubu, Chrome, Joy Division, PIL, Wire, Pan Sonic, Fennesz, Cocteau Twins, Red Crayola, Pink Floyd, TG, Bark Psychosis, United States Of America, Silver Apples, NEU!, Faust & more... Flavia Bruni left Oblomov in 2003 and were replaced with the vocalist and multi instrumentist Giampolo Molisina. After few shows, the bassist Maurizio Di Nofa left too and were replaced in 2004 with Emanuele Napolitano. In 2005 Oblomov recorded a three tracks ep, later included in the enhanced promotional version of their first cd. Now the quartet has a more theatrical approach, the latest compositions reveal new/extra influences from Swans, David Thomas, Gong, Black Flag, CCCP. In 2006 Enrico Le Pera left the band and Giampaolo Molisina became the main guitar player. The three members remained are now composing new material for the third release of the group.
