tim mullally
With influences like Elvis Costello, John Lennon and Jimi Hendrix, Tim Mullally has no lack of resources for inspiration. For over 15 years now Tim has been performing his own brand of alternative pop rock in the Tampa Bay area. Whether fronting psychedelic rock band Tommy Tye Dye, lead guitarist and singer for Multi-Color-House or collaborator with Robert Wegmann, Tim Mullally has been an innovative electric tech warrior both in the studio and live. Witness Tim’s solo release Mountain Hike, the Mullally/Wegmann release Mayfly Glimmer or the recently released Tommy Tye Dye retrospective for definitive proof. Now in a complete about face, Tim has shunned the ’64 Strat, the vintage Marshall and the guitar synth’s to embrace a new challenge, the acoustic guitar. “I think it’s the ultimate challenge” Tim comments, “to get up there with nothing but 6 strings and your voice, with nowhere to hide. You either have it or you don’t, plain and simple”. Currently performing songs off his new release Acoustic Mullallyland, Tim has embraced a purer, more organic sound. Heartfelt lyrics, catchy hooks, at times dark and edgy and at times inspired pop, songs like Why Why Why? offer a direct emotional plea to the current administration and specifically George W. Bush. Tim explains, “Life is all about emotion and energy. Those are the key elements that we all react to and I try to bring them both together in my music. That’s what John Lennon did, that’s what Jimi did, and that’s what Elvis Costello and all the musicians I most admire do.”
