Uisce Beatha

Uisce Beatha (pronounced "ish-ka bah-ha" and meaning "water of life" in Irish) was formed in London, Ontario, in 1988 by brothers Alan and John Glen, Damian Morrissy, Paul Meadows, Doug Watt, and Marty Coles. Their unique mix of sounds -- from Celtic to punk -- helped them stand out, and they had modest success in Europe and Canada. In 1998 the band changed their name to Red to avoid confusion with two other Uisce Beathas. ~ Gina Boldman, All Music Guide
