U.S. Crush

The Newport Beach punk revivalists called US Crush were delivering riveting rock riffs as early as 1992 when frontman Denny Lake was honing his songwriting skills in his former band Atomic Boy. Five years later, Lake formed Kickball with guitarist Hodgie Haynes and began skanking around the Orange County punk scene. It wasn't until spring 1998 when US Crush's pouncing thrash sound would come into full form with bassist Ky Lambert, guitarist Dave Hanson, and drummer Dennis Wolfe joining the group. With the new additions and Lake and Haynes at the helm, US Crush was officially a unit. Their debut single "Same Old Story" poked fun at Lake's previous day job as a waiter, knocking them into heavy rotation at KROQ. A year later, the band released their self-titled debut album on Virgin/Immortal Records. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide
