a gorgeous innocence...
Often a child can utter a simplistic philosophical observation that reminds adults just how jaded and ignorant they've become. Victoria Williams' unique voice is reminiscent of such a child. There is a gorgeous innocence embedded in her trembling harmonies that disarms listeners and ensures that they receive her powerful songwriting without obstruction. Williams floats somewhere in the gray area between modern alternative country and folk, but ultimately she creates brilliant music that should occupy the collection of any red-blooded American who believes the old stars and stripes do not fly as high as they once may have.
