Virus 7 is an international heavy metal outfit comprised of both Americans and Swedes -- vocalist Edgar Paul Allen and bassist Dave Moreno, plus former members of Mercyful Fate, guitarist Hank Shermann and drummer Bjarne T. Holm. Allen got his start as part of the obscure L.A. metal band Original Sin, but decided to relocate to Sweden in the late '90s, which led to a run in with Shermann and Holm in 1999, who were also looking to form a metallic outfit. Shortly thereafter, Allen, Shermann, and Holm began writing and demoing songs in the studio of King Diamond guitarist Andy LaRouque. Both Shermann and Holm decided to focus on Virus 7 after completing work on Mercyful Fate's 1999 release, 9, which resulted in the up-and-coming outfit inking a deal with Metal Blade Records. September of 2000 saw the release of their debut, Sick in the Head, which was overseen by renowned metal producer Berno Paulsson. ~ Greg Prato, All Music Guide
