Waxing Pathetic
Waxing Pathetic first got together in 1995, since that time the band has been through some tough, lean periods, but they have remained focused on the music.Their music that has more "hooks'' in it than a fishing derby in Maine.By "hooks", I mean the little nuances that grab your attention and keep you "hooked" to the sound.
Waxing Pathetic won the Southwest regional finals of the Entertainment Weekly/Fender Battle of the Bands in October of 1998, and ultimately finished third place in the national finals.
Waxing Pathetic's original line up was Dan Cote (lead guitar, vocals), Jeff Cote (bass), Jason "J.V." Vick(drums), and Chuck Burgos (Rhythm guitar, lead vocals. This was the bands line-up when they released their debut EP, God Of France in 1995. Just as the EP was taking off, Dan was seriously injured in an automobile accident, which left him out of commission for over a year.During this period Waxing Pathetic and their lead singer, Chuck Burgos, parted ways.
In 1996 Mark "Granny" Wheeler joined the band as the new lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, and appears on the 1998 release Pop Your Figs. Some of the musicians that have influenced them are from varied genres, from The Beatles, Hank Williams Jr., Husker Du, X, The Clash, Link Wray, and The Pixies. In 1999 Waxing Pathetic was busy at work on their next release. ~ Larry Belanger, All Music Guide
