Windy Austin & The Hot House Tomato Boys
If you're looking for a rock & roll band with a good amount of humor thrown in, then Windy Austin & the Hot House Tomato Boys have what you want. They have been described as lewd, foulmouthed, and funny, and front man and vocalist Windy Austin has been described as a mix of Robin Williams, Cheech Marin, and Harpo Marx. Before Windy started the Hot House Tomato Boys he was fronting another Texas band named Zorro and the Blue Footballs. Windy has gained a cult-like following in Tulsa with the current line up of David McKnight on drums, Joe Ellis on bass, and Bob Meyers on guitar. Austin has a recording studio in Fayetteville, OK, called AFW Productions. He has shared the stage with many headliners in his more than twenty years in the music business and has been featured in two major motion pictures; Fighting Mad (for which he wrote the original soundtrack) and The Blue and Gray. He wrote "One Little Touch of Jesus" recorded by the Oak Ridge Boys and adapted the song "Rawhide" for the University of Arkansas basketball team, renaming it "Hog Hide" (with "rollin' rollin' rollin'" changed to "Nolan Nolan Nolan" in tribute to the U of A basketball coach). In 1998 Austin and his wife Tawanna released a CD entitled Romeo's Last Go Around with the Hot House Tomato on their label Annawatt Records. ~ Larry Belanger, All Music Guide
