W.O.B - The Noiselab Project

W.O.B - The Noiselab Project

BRIEF BIOG : Originally just called `Noiselab` , `W.O.B – The Noiselab Project` is basically just `Gobz`, a founder member of Bristol`s Whores of Babylon ( www.myspace.com/whoresofbabylon ) and Soundisciples ( www.myspace.com/soundisciples ) embarking on an offshoot solo project of 5 tunes during 2000. There are many styles of music blended in these recordings, including : Drum and Bass, Trance, Electronica, Industrial, Cybergothic & Metal. Vocalists from the 2000 5 track EP `Mechanically Seperated` were : Shaun ( then of THE WHORES OF BABYLON / SOUNDISCIPLES ), Gizz Butt ( ex-PRODIGY / JANUS STARK / ENGLISH DOGS / THE MORE I SEE ) & MC Kelloggs ( THE SOULJAH CLIQUE / SMITH AND MIGHTY ). These recordings won`t appeal to all Whores of Babylon fans unless they happen to like some of the genres listed earlier. Fans of the first Soundisciples album `Undefined` should like this stuff as the content style is not that far removed from said album. The 2000 `Mechanically Seperated EP` was never released on an official CD but has done the rounds on mp3 net sites since 2001 and has proved to be popular with the editors and metal/gothic orientated downloaders of all these sites. On the peoplesound.com site From 2001 – 2004 one of the tracks ( Destination Unknown ) proved to be the most downloaded metal orientated song of the whole site and also featured highly in the overall Rock category as well during this period. Destination was also featured on a compilation CD `Bad to the Bone` released in Italy by the now defunct Vitaminic mp3 site. The only place that you could actually buy the `Mechanically Seperated` CD was www.peoplesound.com , however there may be a proper re-release sometime later. After the release of the next Whores of Babylon & Soundisciples albums in 2008 watch out, perhaps later in the year, for a follow up release to the first Noiselab Project EP which may be laced with samples taken from those 2 albums and maybe cunningly entitled - `W.O.B – Noiselab Project 2` ! ! ! Where can I buy the tunes from this EP now ? Unlike previous Whores and Soundisciples releases It was never actually a fully released CD so you can`t buy that, however maybe soon through the new myspace music downloads and sales and perhaps I will re-issue it through mp3 shop sites such as itunes and MSN music etc. Later in 2008 the follow up Noiselab Project 2 maybe put out as a CD in the shops as well by my new label Lovegun records ( www.myspace.com/lovegunrecords ). You can currently buy an 11 track CD from www.lovegunstore.co.uk which includes the 5 tracks from the `Mechanically Seperated EP` plus 6 other acclaimed remixes undertaken by Gobz in the late 1990`s RECORD LABEL LICENSING : Although along with Whores of Babylon & Soundisciples this band is currently signed to my own label `LoveGun Records`, I am looking to license it to another label that specializes more along the lines of Drum & Bass / Industrial or Cyber Gothic sounds. REVIEWS : Cnet - www.download.com Editors review 2005 : It seems like just yesterday that Prodigy showed how fruitful the overlap between electronica and industrial metal could be. Bristol's Noiselab must have tuned in before the censors, though, because they pick up where that wacky-haired outfit left off, fusing dark synthscapes with razor-like beats and snarling vocals. www.peoplesound.com Editors review 2001 : 'This experimental fusion of heavy metal with Techno, Jungle and Hip-Hop will appeal to fans of all these genres with its big, brash sequenced beats and dark, twisted lyrics. Destination Unknown lays on fast and furious Jungle rhythms, while Laughing At The Warning boasts some cool Hip-Hop scratching and rapping. Noiselab`s most impressive achievement is the seamless manner in which these seemingly incongruous genres are blended.` Websites : www.myspace.com/noiselabproject www.download.com/noiselabakawhoresofbabylon www.lovegun.co.uk ( record label )
