The grand prize? Sit down and listen. The winner of Sound and the Jury earns a spot on the Austin City Limits Music Festival lineup. For real.
bands have from July 20 - August 20 to generate as many votes as possible. Bands can spread the word via their website and MySpace pages, at their gigs, and on their email list. At the end of that period, only the Top 100 vote getters will move onto the next round.
celebrity judges will choose their Top 20 bands from the list of 100.
the competition heats up as the Top 20 bands will upload two more MP3s, the votes are reset, and the finalists have from August 24 - August 31 to collect as many votes as possible to determine the Top 5. It’s simple: the Top 5 bands with the most votes make it to Austin to compete live.
the five finalists from online voting will be invited to Austin to compete in the finale event on September 12th at Antone’s, where one band will be picked to play at Austin City Limits Festival. The band will be chosen by audience vote and a
celebrity judging panel including staffers from Paste Magazine.
