DVD of band's acclaimed performance on MTV show, which was chronicled on CD in 1994, will feature extra tracks and behind-the-scenes footage.

One of the most celebrated performances in MTV's Unplugged series is heading to DVD.

Unplugged In New York will chronicle Nirvana's landmark performance on the acoustic session series in November 1993, more than 13 years after a CD of the same name was the first Nirvana release following frontman Kurt Cobain's suicide that April.

Like the CD, the DVD will include the songs "Something in the Way" and "Oh Me," which did not appear on the original MTV broadcast. The DVD of the unedited 66-minute concert will also include four tracks from the band's sound check and previously unreleased behind-the-scenes footage.

The set was notable in that the trio of Cobain, Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl played few of its hits in favor of lesser-known album tracks and obscure covers, including three Meat Puppets songs and a version of David Bowie's "The Man Who Sold The World."

It must have been a rude surprise for Kurt Cobain and company to be hit with a lawsuit over the name of their band once they became internationally successful. In the finish, however, the result was relatively amicable, with the original Nirvana getting together long enough to record a version of Cobain's "Lithium" for a 1996 collection of...
